Gibson SG Guitar

A brief history and popular models

The first SG style guitars appeared in 1961 as a result in a re-design of the Les Paul Junior, Les Paul Standard and Les Paul Custom.  By 1963 the “Les Paul” was dropped and models were simply called the SG Junior, the SG standard and the SG custom. The SG look has been very popular for Gibson and the SG remains a popular guitar today.
